The Stitch Light/Divider

The original idea for this floor light came from my memories of closely examining my grandmother’s quilts, trying to determine how they were made. I wanted to use light to emphasize the zigzag pattern that hand-stitches create, as well as the eyelets that occur when two stitched pieces of fabric are pulled apart. The overall form came from the simple rectangular shape of the quilt, curved to soften the corner of a room, and create an embracing nook.
